Tonight we are going to create short presentations on different periods in Art History, based on Chapters 20 & 21 in Sayre's "A World of Art". You will break up into groups of two and choose one of the following eras:
- Renaissance
- Mannerism
- Baroque
- Rococo
- Neoclassism
- Romanticism
Once you have selected your period, you and your partner will work together using the internet to find FIVE images that exemplify the style of the movement. You will use these images to discuss the following:
- formal qualities of the works
- key themes from each period
- what makes the piece an example of that period
- historical, social, and political contexts of the period in time
- how these contexts are seen in the works
Together you will create a presentation USING BLOGGER to present to your classmates in the last hour of class tonight. Please write an introduction, a conclusion, and one paragraph on each of the five works. We will work in the computer lab and then reconvene in the classroom at 8:30pm for presentations.
DON'T FORGET TO CITE YOUR SOURCES for both pix and content. It goes without saying that the content should be in your own words, though you may use quotations if they are cited properly.
